1415 FIFTH ST
NEAR THE CORNER OF SANTA MONICA BLVD. AND FIFTH ST. IN DOWNTOWN SANTA MONICA, THIS PROJECT WAS CONCEIVED AS AN EXTENSION TO A UNIQUE AREA WITHIN THE CITY. AS THE PROJECT WAS BEING PLANNED, IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE INTERSECTION OF SANTA MONICA BLVD. AND FIFTH ST. INCLUDED A COMMERCIAL ARCHITECTURE IN AN OFF-WHITE COLOR PALETTE. HEREIN, 1970’S ARCHITECTURE INCLUDING RIBBON WINDOWS, AND GRID-LIKE PUNCHED OPENINGS DESCRIBED THE CHARACTER OF THE PLACE. THE DESIGN INTENTION IS TO FURTHER THE UNIQUE QUALITIES OF THIS INTERSECTION, AND MAKE IT MORE CONTINUOUS ALONG FIFTH ST. ADDITIONALLY, A CONTEMPORARY RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURAL STATEMENT IS MADE THROUGH THE UTILIZATION OF PRIVATE BALCONIES, AND STEPPED LANDSCAPE ELEMENTS, WHICH PROVIDE A GARDEN LIKE SETTING FOR THE RESIDENTS. THE PROJECT IS CURRENTLY BEING PROCESSED THROUGH AN EXPEDITED PLANNING PROCESS, WITH COMPLETION PLANNED FOR MID 2023.
